Signal Adds A Face Blurring Tool Its Secure Messaging App

Encrypted chat app Signal is rolling out a new feature to help its users stay anonymous: confront blurring. Developed in response to this ongoing Black Lives Issue demonstrations the attribute is included for iOS and Android.

While in image editor, tap the new blur tool icon near the top of the display and the feature will automatically detect faces to become blurred, as well as give you the choice to manually blur out areas anywhere in the picture.

The stage has seen a spike in use, so it’s also taking measures to maintain increased traffic. And, as Signal says in its own blog article declaring the tool, its system libraries are not perfect — they do not detect every confront 100 percent of their time.
